Position Location: 100% Remote

MedKoder, LLC is looking for an experienced remote Facility Coding Auditor who will be responsible for accurately reviewing diagnoses and procedure codes for all inpatient/outpatient cases ranging from moderate to high complexity using the current version of ICD-10 CM/PCS Classification for Hospitals to arrive at the most appropriate DRG or APC assignment. This auditor will ideally be able to do both inpatient and outpatient coding/auditing responsibilities, as it is common for workload and requirements to change over the life of employment at MedKoder.

Essential Job Functions:

Initial responsibilities will be auditing. Validation of principal diagnosis, validate co-morbidities and complications, major co-morbidities and complications, secondary diagnoses, present on admission indicators, HAC (Hospital Acquired conditions), principal procedure codes and secondary procedure codes to make sure these codes were assigned and meeting the definition of reportable Principal and/or Secondary diagnosis(s).  Selects the appropriate DRG and Discharge Disposition code.

Minimum Required Education & Experience:

Successful completion of at least one AHIMA certified program with the achievement of the correlating professional credential (RHIT, CCS, etc); active and in good standing, preferably a combination of two or more credentials.  A CCS, CPC or CCS-P certification is required for this position. The CCA is not accepted.

  • High School diploma required.
  • Associate or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
  • Greater than 5 years of inpatient (recent hands-on production) coding/auditing experience in an acute care hospital. Candidates with Trauma and Teaching Hospital experience highly preferred.  ICD-10 Proficiency Certification required
  • Working knowledge of Excel and various other electronic formats
  • Easily catches on and works with ease and self-direction in the areas of typing, google suite, general computer savvy, and overall technological know-how.
